Since the Million Dollar Advocates Forum was founded in 1993, membership has been based upon strict and objective standards. Each applicant is required to complete a detailed application demonstrating that he or she has met the basic qualifications. Essential qualifications are as follows:

2. Applicant must have acted as principal counsel in one or more of the following:

New Orleans Magazine Top Lawyers
Every year in November, New Orleans Magazine publishes a list of the Top Attorneys in the New Orleans metropolitan legal market. Professional Research Services conducts the survey on behalf of the magazine, and voting on the survey is open to all licensed area attorneys. In the survey, attorneys are asked which lawyer, other than themselves, they would recommend in the New Orleans area. Each attorney is allowed to recommend up to three colleagues in a given legal specialty. Once the nominations are complete, each nominee is carefully evaluated on the basis of the survey results, the legitimacy of their license, and their current standing with the State Bar Association of Louisiana. Attorneys who received the highest number of votes in each specialty are then recognized as a Top Lawyer.
American Society of Legal Advocates
ASLA’s exclusive membership comprises less than 1.5% of all licensed lawyers nationwide. ASLA is both highly selective in extending invitations and in determining which specialties to include for a given state.
ASLA’s selection process is conducted manually by lawyers. Prospective members initially are evaluated based on publicly-available information, although member nominations also are accepted from current members, other lawyers, and past clients. Self-nominations and nominations from public relations firms or advertising agencies are not accepted.
The selection process consists of a rigorous, manual review. ASLA’s lawyers comprehensively review available information for each candidate, including a review of firm websites, client assessments, and publicly-available filings, which may include: verdicts, settlement information, and information regarding transactions. Each candidate is assessed based on such criteria as educational accomplishments, involvement and leadership in bar associations and professional organizations, activities within their community, and demonstrated legal achievement.
Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association
The Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association is a networked group of attorneys representing injury victims and plaintiffs in claims involving motor vehicle accidents. The goal is to enable members to draw upon the specialty association’s strong training, educational and networking resources so they may have benefits that were either unavailable or difficult to find on their own.
